Beauty may be more than skin deep, but we all know that having beautiful, healthy skin and hair can help us to feel more comfortable and confident, giving our inner selves a chance to shine through.
One of the best places to start when trying to build a healthier, more beautiful self is with nutrition.
We have probably all learned from personal experience that when we are intentional about eating a healthy variety of fruits, vegetables, and proteins, we have more energy, sleep deeper, and generally feel better throughout the day. The same vitamins that cause these are also essential to healthy skin and hair. Eating richly colored fruits and vegetable, the darker the better, provide you with a great combination of iron, zinc, calcium, vitamins A, B, E, and so much more. When combined with good hydration, this helps lead to smooth, clear skin and full, shiny hair.
But vitamins alone are not enough. Protein is absolutely key to maintaining a healthy beauty. There are several different kinds of protein found within the body, but the one with the biggest impact on your beauty is collagen. Collagen impacts the elasticity of your skin and maintaining healthy levels of collagen helps prevent (and can even reverse!) the wrinkles that come with age. Firmer, smoother skin helps you stay looking younger for longer, but that’s not collagen’s only benefit! It also helps your nails and hair grow in thicker and stronger
It is possible to find collagen in our diets, bone broth is a great example, but unfortunately, it can be difficult to consume enough collagen through diet alone. Thankfully, there are some great collagen supplements on the market that can help fill in the gap. These supplements typically come in the form of a powder that you can easily add to your daily coffee or smoothie of choice. Prisma Natural Collagen PLUS is, in my opinion, the best collagen supplement on the market. They use sustainable marine sources and then break the protein into tiny peptides that are easy for our bodies to absorb.
Nutrition has a profound impact on our physical appearance. There are lots of other factors, like hydration, sleep, and stress, but maintaining a healthy balance of vitamins and proteins is one of the best ways to keep your skin and hair looking beautiful.
